These pictures were taken in May 2005 during a trip to Curacao, one of the islands that make up the Netherlands Antilles. In some ways Curacao does not fit in with the typical Caribbean image - when you visit Willemstad, its almost as if you are in a sunnier, brightly painted version of a street in Amsterdam, and the north of the island is very rugged and wild, almost desert like in places. The beaches however, such as those at Knip Bay fit the paradise island expectations perfectly.
